Documents to Carry
Carry originals + 3 sets of photocopies for each:
- KIITEE Admit Card and Rank Card (printed)
- Admission Offer Letter (from portal)
- Fee Payment Receipt (all semesters paid)
- 10th Class Mark Sheet + Certificate
- 12th Class Mark Sheet + Certificate
- Transfer Certificate (TC) from previous school
- Migration Certificate
- Character Certificate (from school principal)
- Aadhaar Card (original)
- Passport-size Photographs — 12 copies (white background, recent)
- Category Certificate (SC/ST/OBC — if applicable)
- Medical Fitness Certificate (from registered doctor)
- Anti-Ragging Affidavit (from antiragging.in — both student + parent)
- Blood Group Report
- Parent/Guardian ID proof (Aadhaar/PAN)
Important
Do NOT forget the anti-ragging affidavit. It's mandatory and they check it at the gate. Generate it at antiragging.in at least 2 days before reporting.
Clothing & Personal Items
Clothes
- Casual wear — 7-10 sets (t-shirts, jeans, shorts)
- Formal wear — 2-3 sets (for presentations, events, placements later)
- Traditional/ethnic — 1-2 sets (for festivals, cultural events)
- Sleepwear — 3-4 sets
- Undergarments — 8-10 sets (laundry is weekly)
- Rain jacket or umbrella (monsoon starts July)
- Light sweater/hoodie (for AC classrooms + mild winter)
- Comfortable shoes — 2 pairs (daily + sports)
- Slippers/flip-flops — for hostel corridors and bathrooms
Pro tip
Don't overpack. You'll buy more clothes in Bhubaneswar — Patia market and malls have everything. Bring essentials for the first 2 weeks.
Electronics & Gadgets
- Laptop (essential): Minimum 8GB RAM, SSD. For CSE/IT: 16GB RAM recommended
- Charger + spare cable: Universal charger if possible
- Extension board: 4-6 socket with surge protection (hostel has limited plugs)
- Earphones/headphones: For online classes, library study, and music
- Power bank: 10,000-20,000 mAh (campus is large, phone dies fast)
- Pen drive / external HDD: For file sharing, backups
- Small LED desk lamp: Clip-on type for late-night study without disturbing roommate
- Electric kettle (small): For tea/coffee/maggi — most hostels allow this
Good to know
Avoid buying a new laptop before joining — wait for college fests and Amazon sales (August-October) for better deals. Your existing laptop works fine for the first semester.
Bedding & Toiletries
Bedding (mattress is provided)
- Bedsheet — 2 sets
- Pillow + pillow cover
- Light blanket / comforter (thin for summer, warm for winter)
- Mattress protector (hygiene + comfort)
Toiletries
- Bucket, mug, soap case
- Towels — 2-3
- Toothbrush, toothpaste, face wash
- Shampoo, hair oil, comb
- Nail cutter, scissors
- Sunscreen (SPF 50+ — Bhubaneswar sun is strong)
- Mosquito repellent cream/coils (essential in monsoon)
Basic Medicine Kit
Keep a small medical kit for common issues (doctor is available but these save midnight trips):
- Paracetamol (fever/headache)
- Cetirizine (allergies — new environment often triggers them)
- ORS packets (dehydration — Bhubaneswar heat)
- Antacid (digestion issues from new food)
- Band-aids and antiseptic cream
- Cold & cough medicine (Benadryl/Vicks)
- Any personal prescription medicines (carry prescription letter)
Pro tip
Most freshers fall sick in the first 2 weeks (water change, food change, stress). Having ORS, paracetamol, and antacid handy saves panic trips to the medical center.

SIM Card Setup
Get a local SIM card on Day 1 (or before arriving):
- Recommended: Jio or Airtel (best 4G coverage on KIIT campus)
- Where: Patia market (5 min from campus gate) has authorized Jio/Airtel stores
- Documents needed: Aadhaar card + passport photo + fingerprint (biometric verification)
- Activation time: Usually active within 2-4 hours
- Recommended plan: INR 299-399 monthly plan with unlimited data (you'll need it until Wi-Fi is set up)
Good to know
If you already have Jio/Airtel with good signal at home, you may not need a new number. Check coverage by asking seniors from your city.
Bank Account Opening
Open a bank account in the first week for UPI payments, scholarship credits, and miscellaneous use:
- SBI (on campus): Most popular; zero-balance student account; easy process
- HDFC: Good mobile app; ATM near food court
- Documents: Aadhaar, admission letter, passport photo, parent's Aadhaar (for minor accounts if under 18)
- Timeline: Account opens in 1-2 days; debit card arrives in 5-7 days
Once you have a bank account, set up UPI (Google Pay/PhonePe) — cash is rarely needed on campus.
ERP Portal & ID Card
ERP (SAP) Portal
KIIT uses an ERP portal for all academic management. Setup on Day 1:
- You'll receive login credentials (roll number + initial password) at registration
- Login at the KIIT ERP portal URL (provided during orientation)
- Change password immediately
- Complete your profile (photo, address, emergency contact)
- This portal is used for: attendance tracking, exam results, fee receipts, course registration, and more
Student ID Card
- Photo taken on campus during registration week
- ID card issued within 1-2 weeks
- Until then, admission letter serves as temporary ID
- ID card is mandatory for: library access, hostel entry, exam hall, medical center, sports facilities
Important
Memorize your roll number. You'll use it for EVERYTHING — Wi-Fi login, ERP, library, exam seating, official communication. It's your identity at KIIT.
