At KIIT Connect, we respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information.
PLAIN ENGLISH SUMMARY
We collect the following categories of information:
Account Information: When you sign in via Google OAuth, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo. We also store your KIIT roll number and branch if you provide them during account setup.
Usage Data: We collect information about how you interact with the Platform — pages visited, features used, session duration, device type, browser type, and IP address. This is used solely to improve the service.
Payment Information: Payments are processed by Razorpay. We do not store your credit/debit card details or bank account information. We only retain a transaction reference ID, plan type, and payment status for subscription management.
User-Generated Content: Notes, reviews, posts, project submissions, and other content you choose to upload or publish on the Platform.
Communications: When you contact our support team via email, we retain your message and contact details to respond to your query.
Account Data: Retained for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion at any time.
Payment Records: Retained for a minimum of 7 years as required under Indian tax and accounting regulations.
Usage Logs: Anonymised and aggregated after 90 days; raw logs are purged after 30 days.
We implement industry-standard security measures including HTTPS/TLS encryption in transit, encryption at rest for sensitive data, role-based access controls, and regular security reviews. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security and encourage you to use a strong, unique password and keep your account credentials confidential.
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated personal data, subject to legal retention requirements.
Portability: Request your data in a machine-readable format.
Withdrawal: Withdraw consent for non-essential data processing at any time.

KIIT Connect is intended for university students and is not directed at persons under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately at [email protected] and we will promptly delete the information.
This Privacy Policy is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, including the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, for material changes, notify you via email or a prominent notice on the Platform. Your continued use of the Platform after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
